This insignificant ringfort has had an advantageous defensive position on a low ridge surrounded by small bogs and shallow wetlands. The oval ring wall encloses a 52-85 m large area. The wall height is today only at most 0.75 m. Inside and closest outside the castle there are a number of low burial mounds of insignificant size. It is also called Bostorps borg.
The ringforts on Öland are traditionally dated to the time of migration (400-550 AD). Today it is known that many are built earlier than that. They were built as a defense in external attacks, but several have also served as trading posts.
