Next to a now drained bog, Lenstadsmossen, there are remains after a small ringfort. From a defense point of view, the castle was advantageously surrounded by wetlands in three directions. Of the walls, only one dike remains, which is about 1 m high. The ringfort is irregular with an inner diameter of 55-73 m. There have been two gates, one in the southwest and one in the northeast. A closed bronze ring has been found in the castle, which is usually attributed to the 5th century AD.
The ringforts on Öland are traditionally dated to the time of migration (400-550 AD). Today it is known that many are built earlier than that. They were built as a defense in external attacks, but several have also served as trading posts.
