Bödabukten

At Bödabukten there are kilometers of sandy beaches. It stretches from Böda to Ångjärnsudden. Öland's east coast is flat and a northbound sea current parallel to the shore constantly brings in new sand. The coast is a deposition coast, ie sand material is deposited here, unlike the erosion coast where material is worn away from the beaches. The area is young, ie has recently become a land. 5,000 years ago, this was the seabed.

A reef can be seen 50 meters from the beach. The land uplift is small, 1 mm / year, and the beach is constantly moving out into the sea. Closest to the waterline, the shore consists of a smooth strip of sand, which rises a few decimetres above the mean water level. In its lower part, the beach is constantly processed by the sea.

Sometimes the water throws up sand in low banks and sometimes the sea expels the sand. When the sand is allowed to dry, it is taken care of by the wind and carried in the appropriate wind direction over the inside area. This mobile sand is called fly sand. Flying sand can be carried out over, for example, fields but often forms dunes.

At Bödabukten there are nice beaches such as Fagerrör, Homrevet and Lyckesand.
