Klipplök

Scientific name: Allium lineare

Klipplök  is very rare and is found in Sweden only on Öland where it grows in lime cracks on Stora Alvaret. The first find from Öland is 1976.

Klipplöken has its main distribution in Asia. Occasional habitats are found in continental Europe.

Klipplöken is strongly threatened in Sweden. It is protected.

The species name lineare comes from the Latin linea (thread, line) and means narrow, even width. The family name Allium was already used as a name for garlic by Plautus (died 184 BC).
